Design decisions
Zawya was envisioned as more than just a café, it is a communal hub where design, culture, and lifestyle intersect. Located at the iconic site of Qatar’s first Hermès store, the project carries forward a legacy of elegance and exclusivity while redefining the space as a modern social destination. The design celebrates openness and connection, with soaring arches, natural textures, and lush greenery that soften the concrete shell and create a warm, inviting atmosphere. Central gathering zones, such as the sunken seating area anchored by a tree, foster interaction and a sense of belonging, while integrated retail displays introduce a contemporary lifestyle element. Balancing modern sophistication with regional character, Zawya embodies a place where stories unfold, people connect, and everyday rituals are elevated through design.
